5 Exercises for Body and Mind Health

The benefits of exercise go way beyond the desire to lose weight or see a different number on the scale. People focus too much on the body. They forget about their mind health and their soul health.

That all sounds very nice, but what does it really mean? It means you will sleep better, feel better, lower your resting stress level and have more energy. You’re also going to reduce your odds of health complications like breast cancer.

If you’re not one for gym culture, here are a few of the best ways to exercise.

Scripture Meditation for Mind Health

You probably did not see this one coming. If you are like most believers you might be thinking “meditate”, isn’t that for orange-robed monks and those associated with Eastern religions? In The book of Joshua, he said in 1:8 that if we meditate on God day and night that we will have success and prosperity in life.  Psalms 16:11, tells us that in God’s presence is fullness of joy. when we integrate the word meditation with Christian, Biblical meditation is simply the practice of reflecting, musing, pondering, and contemplating God, his principles, his word, and his presence. You can experience peace of mind, control negative thoughts, greater health, more intimacy with God, a deeper sensitivity to the Holy Spirit and overcome habits, hang-ups and hurts.

Jogging

The great thing about jogging is you can do it just about anytime and anywhere.

Of course, you will see the hardcore joggers out there, dressed head to toe in their most expensive gear, with water-bottle belts and mobile apps to keep their pace. But you don’t need all that; Just a pair of shoes and half an hour.

For many, jogging is a great way to engage in self-care, as it gives them a chance to put in some earbuds and escape into their favorite music, podcast or audiobook.

Swimming

Swimming is an incredible way to shut the rest of the world out and just connect with yourself.

It’s also remarkably low-impact. So if you’re had injury problems in the past, you’re going to get an incredible workout, without any stress on your bones or joints.

Biking

If you’re short of time or money, you can just get a stationary bike for your home and put it in your basement or garage. It’s an amazing way to steal a quick workout any time during the day during a busy schedule.

To get the full experience for your mind health, there is no substitute for getting outdoors, in any weather, and tearing up a tree filled bike path or nature trail.

Hiking/ Walking

Speaking of nature, going for a nice long walk in the woods will always center you and make you slow down, which is what mind health is all about it.

The sights, the sounds, the smells. They should all feed your soul and remind you that there are true natural wonders in this world.
